Keynotes on MRI

  1. An MRI scan is a painless and safe radiology method without x-ray radiation exposure.
  2. The most common disadvantage of an MRI is that any magnetic implant like dental implants, cardiac implants, aneurysm chips, metallic ear implants, bullet fragments, and chemotherapy or insulin pumps can come under the influence which can cause an implant to be displaced or overheated.
  3. The patient should have lied within a closed environment inside the magnetic machine during MRI scanning.
  4. Claustrophobic (irrational fear of confined places) sensations can occur with MRI scanning.
  5. The MRI scanning time fully depends on the exact area of the body studied, however, ranges from 0.5 to 1.5 hours.
  6. Patients may be given sedative medicine to help them relax and feel less anxious during their MRI scan.
  7. Patients may require intravenous liquid injections to improve the quality of the images acquired.
